Sanming (三明 Sānmíng) is a city in the mountains of Fujian Province in China.

Get in[edit]

Sanming is far enough up in the mountains that the Japanese did not take it during World War II, but today there are good roads and it is easily reached from Xiamen or Fuzhou by car or bus.

  • Unicorn Mountain Park (麒麟山公园). The park has restaurants, teahouses, Department of photography and the arts and crafts exhibition hall and other service facilities. To the top of the hill cable tramway for hanging chair type scenic cableway, a hanging seat41,82 people can sit. There are mountains roads to the peak.Located in the eastern city, built in the park.

  • Sanming Pork Sausage (三明肉肠). A traditional Fujian snack known for its golden and crispy skin, filled with a mixture of pork and mushrooms. The sausage is crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and boasts a rich, savory flavor.
  • Shaxian Snacks (沙县小吃). Shaxian Snacks represent a fusion of traditional Fujian cuisine, and Sanming has many outlets offering these snacks. They include stir-fried noodles, fried sauce noodles, braised noodles, and more, known for their unique flavors and rich textures, which are highly appreciated by food enthusiasts.
  • Clay Pot Cuisine, or Shaguoju (砂锅居). A traditional local dish slow-cooked in clay pots. Popular varieties include clay pot chicken and clay pot soup, known for their rich broth and delicious taste.
  • Childhood Memory Cake (儿童记忆糕). A pastry with a strong local flavor, made from ingredients such as glutinous rice and peanuts. The cake has a smooth exterior and a dense texture, often evoking nostalgic memories of childhood flavors.

  • Big Red Robe (大红袍). A type of rock tea originating from Wuyi Mountain. It is a high-grade black tea known for its strong aroma and unique flavor.
  • Bohea Tea (武夷岩茶). Zhengyan Tea represents the rock teas of Wuyi Mountain, known for their extremely high quality. Varieties include Da Hong Pao, Tie Guan Yin and Shui Xian, among others.
  • Tie Kuan Yin (铁观音). An oolong tea produced in Wuyi Mountain. It boasts floral and fruity notes and is a partially fermented tea.
  • Scented Tea (水仙茶). Shui Xian Tea is one of the rock teas from Wuyi Mountain, characterized by its rich floral and fruity aroma, and a smooth and mellow taste.
